Description

This is the quintessential diver for those “in the know”. From its Gerald Genta inspiration to its historically significant brand, there is plenty to love here. Universal Geneve has been one of the hottest vintage watch brands in the market, with watches such as the Polerouter achieving cult classic status.
This particular watch is one of the rare “Sub” versions of the Polerouter, a saga that saw different case shapes, calibers, and dial layouts. This version is our favorite, with its vintage large crown, beautifully sloped 40mm case, and above all unforgivingly 60s dial. This dial features bold “art deco” style Arabic numerals enclosed in a trapezoid, which coincidentally matches the acrylic crystal. Complemented by the faint yet striking red crosshair that ties the dial together. Details such as the trident at the U in “Sub” and the lovely color pallet make this watch ever interesting. In addition to all this is the slight but palpable tropical effect that has captured the dial, making it a dark chocolate chameleon that surprises you at every turn. It's important to note that the seconds hand and dial lume plots have been expertly re-lumed and color matched to bring the watch to its former glory.
This lovely dial is surrounded by a magical elapsed time bezel that shines a blue hue at certain angles, making the piece so much more noticeable. Its patina brings character to a watch that is ready to see decades on a collector's caring wrist. In that regard, this watch features the ultra-rare original bracelet dating back the watch to 1965, its tactile stretch, deep engravings, and comfort make this the perfect combo. The milestone micro-rotor movement Caliber 69 has been checked by our watchmaker and lives true to vintage standards.
This is a watch that will stand out in any crowd, where surely no one else will be wearing the same as you.
