Canadian artist Elisabetta Fantone has given the Mona Lisa a brilliant post-modern makeover in this limited-edition masterpiece by Corum.

La Gioconda’s enigmatic countenance has been the subject of much speculation over the years. Is she happy? A bit sad? To be sure, there’s a delicious ambivalence that inspires folks from all around the world to pay her a visit and see her in person in Paris.

Were you to ask what lies behind Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous of smiles, here we are presented with a wonderfully cynical answer: MONEY…but not just any old money. No, the layers of irony run deep here as we catch a glimpse of Andy Warhol’s silkscreened dollar signs.

The thickly domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal magnifies the scene to better see our new Mona Lisa, who today is showing a bit more skin than in the sixteenth century. Attractive patterns surround our star subject and rhodium-plated skeletonized leaf-shaped hands allow you to tell the time but deftly do not obscure the art.

The rugged PVD-treated stainless steel case measures 47 mm in diameter, 18.5 mm in height, and rests upon a fashionable rubber / white alligator leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle.

Additional features include an oversized winding crown, 100 m / 10 atm water resistance, and exhibition case back, which allows you to see the movement in action. Speaking of the movement, this watch is driven by Corum’s CO 082 caliber, which has 21 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph, and delivers a 42-hour power reserve.
