Founded in 1990, this company from southeast Germany is best known for their flat cases and simple designs inspired by the Bauhaus movement of the 1920s. The Tangente, NOMOS' first watch, is the perfect example of this and remains the manufacturer's most famous and successful model to date. The Lux and Lambda both debuted many years later in 2013.

NOMOS entered new territory with the barrel-shaped case of the Lux. Before then, this manufacturer had almost exclusively used round cases. The pre-owned market for the NOMOS Lux collection is still relatively small. Most models up for resale are still in mint condition. The Lux is available with a number of dial colors. However, the center of each dial features a white silver-plated circle with the central time display and small seconds dial. The Caliber DUW 2002: Two Barrels and an 84-Hour Power Reserve

NOMOS equips the Lux with the in-house caliber DUW 2002. This movement is wound manually and boasts an 84-hour power reserve thanks to its two barrels. The DUW 2002 features a rhodium-plated three-quarter plate with a sunburst pattern and 23 rubies, five of which sit in polished and screwed gold chatons. The balance cock is engraved by hand with hand-rounded and polished edges. NOMOS outfits the Lux with a sapphire glass case back so you can see this precious movement at work.

Fine adjustments in six positions guarantee this timepiece's accuracy. In fact, the DUW 2002 meets the standards for a mechanical chronometer caliber. At its widest, it is 32.6 mm across, and the entire movement is only 3.6 mm thick. The balance springs made of Nivarox 1A are among the few components NOMOS doesn't produce in-house. This special alloy is composed of different metals that remain largely unaffected by temperature fluctuations.
